Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Mustangs vs. Bedford North Lawrence Stars

Edgewood is 0-6 against Bedford North Lawrence since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Stars at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Edgewood's victory against Indian Creek wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Braves on Wednesday.

Sam Lawson was a standout: he scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Will Lawson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Bedford North Lawrence got the win against Borden on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-5. With that victory, the Stars brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Cal Gates, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Tanskley, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Bedford North Lawrence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Bedford North Lawrence's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Edgewood, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
