Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Grove City Christian's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

While Grove City Christian put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Millersport. The Eagles blew past the Lakers 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Peyton Fillinger made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grove City Christian got a massive performance out of Jadunn Harris, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Harris has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7-1 otherwise. Tyler Benedum was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Grove City Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millersport only posted a batting average of .158.

Grove City Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Millersport, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grove City Christian will face off against Harvest Prep at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Millersport, they will square off against Miller at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
