Basketball Recap: Columbia Adventist Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but Columbia Adventist Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ocosta Wildcats.

Several Kodiaks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Payne, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points. Thanks to that strong game, Payne now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. Logan Pierce was another key player, putting up 16 points and three steals.

Ocosta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sonny Beard led the charge by dropping a double-double with 16 points and 20 boards. Beard has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dalton Welch, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 11 points and six rebounds.

Columbia Adventist Academy's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 17-3. As for Ocosta, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Columbia Adventist Academy has already played their next game, a 74-58 win against Naselle on the 19th. As for Ocosta, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-44 loss against Willapa Valley on the 22nd.
