Baseball Game Preview: Rejoice Christian Eagles vs. Skiatook Bulldogs

The Rejoice Christian Eagles will face off against the Skiatook Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Skiatook will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Rejoice Christian extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. Everything went the Eagles' way against Aspire HomeSchool as they made off with a 19-8 win. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Callen Duncan made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Rejoice Christian's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 10-13 when he doesn't). Duncan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Rejoice Christian got a massive performance out of Micah Walker, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Walker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Sanchez, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Rejoice Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.2.

Meanwhile, Skiatook had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 13-1 victory.

Skiatook pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Rejoice Christian, their win bumped their record up to 12-14.

Rejoice Christian skirted past Skiatook 16-15 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
