Softball Recap: Hardee Wildcats vs. Lemon Bay Manta Rays
Hardee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Lemon Bay Manta Rays, falling 11-4. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Manta Rays apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Hardee got a good showing from Emalyn Johnston, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Lunna Guajardo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Yareli Duarte, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Hardee's record is now 0-5. As for Lemon Bay, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Looking ahead, Hardee will head out to take on Avon Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hardee has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Lemon Bay, they will be playing at home against Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
