Sylmar has gone a perfect 8-0 against San Fernando recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Sylmar had taken Van Nuys down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Spartans fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 3-2. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Sylmar sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when San Fernando took on Kennedy on Wednesday. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the Cougars. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Kennedy scored at least 20 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20, 25-21.

San Fernando's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Sylmar, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Sylmar was able to grind out a solid win over San Fernando in their previous matchup back in March, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
