Basketball Recap: Washington Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Washington can now relate to. They had to suffer through an 83-47 loss at the hands of the Mardela Warriors. The Jaguars just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Leading Mardela to victory were Jo'Ziah Sherwood and Zyair Johnson. Sherwood dropped a double-double with 23 points and 18 boards, while Johnson went 11-for-17 to rack up 26 points in addition to six assists and six steals. The game was Sherwood's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Darion Collins was another key player, shooting 58% from the field on his way to 18 points and five steals.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Mardela, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mardela, they have already played their next contest, a 69-54 defeat against Snow Hill on the 4th.
