Softball Recap: Segerstrom Gets the Win

Segerstrom's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Walnut Mustangs, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since May 15, 2025.

Alyssa Razo spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Sofia Macias and Izel Olivarria did most of the damage at the plate: Macias went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base, while Olivarria went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave Macias a new career-high. Juliana Altamirano was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Segerstrom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Segerstrom's record is now 3-4. As for Walnut, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Segerstrom has already played their next game, an 11-2 loss against Chaparral on the 14th. As for Walnut, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-1 defeat against Corona on the 16th.
