Basketball Game Preview: Covenant Christian Warriors vs. University Trailblazers

Covenant Christian is 1-9 against University since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Covenant Christian Warriors will challenge the University Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. Covenant Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.4 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Covenant Christian strolled past Bethesda Christian with points to spare, taking the game 65-48.

Covenant Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Crane out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. The game was Crane's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Joe Midla, who shot 71% from the field on his way to 12 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, University won against Phalen Leadership Academy on Wednesday with 64 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. University beat Phalen Leadership Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 64-55. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trailblazers.

University pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points over those games. As for Covenant Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8.

Covenant Christian came up short against University in their previous meeting back in January, falling 79-75. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of University's Zien Bland, who went 7-for-9 to rack up 19 points in addition to five assists and five steals.
