Football Recap: Medina Valley Extends Winning Streak to Three

Medina Valley barely beat Laredo LBJ the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Wolves 28-7 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three games in a row.

Xavier Gonzalez had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 133 yards and two TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 133 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Medina Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 344 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 238 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Laredo LBJ lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mauricio Lopez, who rushed for 93 yards on only 12 carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Ivan Gonzalez also helped out with an impressive 94 receiving yards.

Medina Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Laredo LBJ, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Coming up, Medina Valley will take on Alexander at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Laredo LBJ, they will welcome Eagle Pass at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
