Baseball Game Preview: Baldwin Park Braves vs. Duarte Falcons

The Baldwin Park Braves will head out to challenge the Duarte Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Duarte will be up against a hot Baldwin Park squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went Baldwin Park's way against Azusa on Tuesday as Baldwin Park made off with an 11-1 victory. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.

Julian Huerta made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Isaiah Montes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Isaiah Felix also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

While Duarte didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-12-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Garey with a sharp 10-2 win on Tuesday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Duarte has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.2 runs. Baldwin Park's record now sits at 6-1.

Baldwin Park took their victory against Duarte in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 15-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Baldwin Park since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
