Volleyball Recap: Las Plumas Thunderbirds vs. Wheatland Pirates
Las Plumas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Wheatland Pirates. If the Thunderbirds were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Pirates when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
While Las Plumas ultimately came up short, they really made Wheatland work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-14, 26-24.
Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivea Hobbs, who had 32 digs. Myli Benedict was another key player, getting 26 digs and 13 assists.
Las Plumas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Wheatland, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
After both having extra time off, Las Plumas and Enterprise will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wheatland, they will challenge Oakmont at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
