Baseball Recap: Barren County Takes a Loss

Barren County lost against Tampa Catholic back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Trojans took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders.

Barren County got a good showing from Dylan Poynter, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Poynter a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Sutton Hyde was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Barren County dropped their record down to 7-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Tampa Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Barren County will head out on the road to take on Paul Laurence Dunbar at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Tampa Catholic, they will welcome Cambridge Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight.
