Softball Game Preview: Farmington River Hawks vs. Bristol Eastern Lancers

Farmington hasn't had much luck against Bristol Eastern recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The River Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. Farmington has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Farmington fell victim to Nonnewaug and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 20-0 to the Chiefs. The game marked the first time this season in which the River Hawks were not able to get on the board.

Glastonbury hit Bristol Eastern with a five-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lancers fell 10-5 to the Guardians. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Emily Valentine made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Maria Albert, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Farmington's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Bristol Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Farmington might still be hurting after the 24-0 loss they got from Bristol Eastern in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the River Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
