Softball Preview: Northern Durham Knights vs. East Chapel Hill Wildcats
Northern Durham has gone 9-1 against East Chapel Hill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Northern Durham Knights will host the East Chapel Hill Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Northern Durham will be strutting in after a victory while East Chapel Hill will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with nine losses in a row dating back to last season, Northern Durham turned things around against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 16-1 win. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brynley Standifer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Standifer was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Northern Durham let AnnaClaire Spell and Roxy Nelson run wild. Spell scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Nelson went 2-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave Nelson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Northern Durham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern School of Energy and Sustainability only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, East Chapel Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Panther Creek, falling 21-1.
Northern Durham's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for East Chapel Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
