Nebraska high school football: Conor Booth of Bishop Neumann leads state rushing yardage leaders

Junior running back holds slim lead over South Sioux City's Tony Palmer

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, junior Conor Booth of Bishop Neumann (Wahoo) leads Nebraska high school football in rushing yardage. See the complete list of the top 50 rushing yardage leaders below.

Booth ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns in a 29-25 loss to St. Cecilia (Hastings) last weekend to bring his rushing total to 872 yards and 16 touchdowns on 79 carries for the 3-1 Cavaliers. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Nebraska Cornhuskers commit is averaging 11 yards a carry and ran for a season-high 313 yards and five scores in an early September win.

Averaging 218 yards per game, Booth almost reached 300 yards the next week when he carried 27 times for 297 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Grand Island Central Catholic.

No. 2 on the list is Tony Palmer of South Sioux City, who has produced 831 yards and 14 touchdowns. Palmer accrued season highs when he ran for 348 yards and scored five times in a 46-14 win over Sioux City West (Iowa) in early September.



Quinn Bailey of Chadron is the only other back in the state to rush for over 700 yards on the season. Bailey has chalked up 788 yards and 14 touchdowns on 103 carries.
