Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Dupo

Dupo hadn't done well against New Athens recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Tigers beat the Yellow Jackets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-0 on Tuesday.

Addison Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dupo's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Kloess, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

The victory (which was Dupo's third in a row) raised their record to 7-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for New Athens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Dupo has already played their next match, a 6-5 defeat against Granite City on the 5th. As for New Athens, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-2 victory against Father McGivney Catholic on the 28th.
