New Plymouth proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 24) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Melba Mustangs, sneaking past 13-11. The victory was nothing new for the Pilgrims as they're now sitting on four straight.

Makiah Weideman was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Averi Albisu, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.
