While St. Bede's victory against Putnam County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bruins narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Panthers 2-0. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Macy Strauch, who gave up just eight hits to keep Putnam County off the board. Strauch has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Bede saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Slingsby, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Slingsby is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

St. Bede's record is now 13-9. As for Putnam County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-13.

Looking ahead, St. Bede will face off against IC Catholic Prep at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Putnam County, they will square off against Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
