Basketball Recap: Connor Kirack's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lassen over West Valley

Lassen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the West Valley Eagles, falling 70-45. The Grizzlies were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Lassen lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Connor Kirack, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Deforest, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lassen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Jordan Heacock continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Valley, going 10 of 15 on his way to 23 points and three steals. Heacock's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaze Collins, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Lassen's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for West Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-7.

Lassen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-43 loss against Durham on the 9th. As for West Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-40 defeat against Shasta on the 10th.
