After a string of five wins, Wylie's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Wagner Thunderbirds by a score of 52-49. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 33rd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wagner to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lance Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Thomas, who posted 11 points and three steals.
