Volleyball Recap: Kamryn Kruger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverdale over Erie-Prophetstown

Riverdale lost against Erie-Prophetstown back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Rams fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Riverdale started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-18, 25-19.

Riverdale's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamryn Kruger, who had 27 digs and four assists. Kruger is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amarah Coleman, who had 19 assists and ten digs.

Among those leading the charge was Brown Brynn, who had 14 digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted over her last five matches.

Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7-1. As for Erie-Prophetstown, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-2.

Coming up, Riverdale will head out on the road to square off against Wethersfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Erie-Prophetstown, they will be taking part in a tournament against Kewanee at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
