Basketball Recap: Christian Gibson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Katy

There's no place like home for Mayde Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 58-53 win over the Katy Tigers on Saturday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Tigers are ranked 53rd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mayde Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Gibson, who went 6 of 15 en route to 19 points along with six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Chretien II, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points.

With the win, Mayde Creek broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-9. As for Katy, they moved to 20-4 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
