Basketball Recap: 16 Straight Home Wins for Hiland

Hiland put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They wrapped up 2024 with a 50-35 win over the John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Eagles are ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hiland's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for John F. Kennedy Catholic, they moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hiland won't have much time to rest: their next match is against University School at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. University School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Hiland likes a good challenge. As for John F. Kennedy Catholic, they will take on Lake Center Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
