Basketball Game Preview: Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane vs. Brantley County Herons

The Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane will head out on the road to challenge the Brantley County Herons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Fitzgerald is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Bacon County by a score of 58-45 on Tuesday.

Fitzgerald can attribute much of their success to Tai'Kya Powell, who posted 15 points. The dominant performance gave Powell a new career-high in points. Kianti McDuffie was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Brantley County came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Rebels 73-21. The Herons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 24 points or more this season.

Fitzgerald pushed their record up to 4-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Brantley County, they have also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Fitzgerald came up short against Brantley County in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 45-41. Can Fitzgerald avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
