Baseball Game Preview: Madison-Grant Argylls vs. Lapel Bulldogs

The Madison-Grant Argylls will head out to take on the Lapel Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison-Grant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.

Madison-Grant is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Delphi Community on Saturday as they made off with a 19-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Argylls.

Xavier Yeagy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Yeagy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Brayson Martin was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Tripp Haisley was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Madison-Grant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Lapel and Speedway finished up their game with a 0-0 tie on Saturday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Madison-Grant pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. Lapel's tie gives them a new season record of 4-0-1.

Madison-Grant came out on top in a nail-biter against Lapel in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Argylls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
