Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Archbishop Mcnicholas' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Archbishop McNicholas had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Archbishop Alter on Wednesday. The Rockets never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The Rockets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

Natalie Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Archbishop McNicholas let Lucy Laudeman and Leah Anstaett run wild. Laudeman got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Anstaett went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Laudeman has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Katelyn Lynch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Archbishop McNicholas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Archbishop McNicholas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Alter, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Archbishop Alter will face off against Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Archbishop McNicholas will be paying especially close attention to the Knights' match: after the Knights face off against the Hornets, they'll take on Archbishop McNicholas again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
