Soccer Game Preview: Hillcrest vs. Jordan

The Hillcrest Huskies will venture away from home to challenge the Jordan Beetdiggers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Hillcrest fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Layton Christian Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3. While losing is never fun, Hillcrest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Layton Christian Academy are ranked tenth).

Lucas Felix and Bridger Healy scored all three of Hillcrest's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Jordan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 9-0 to Murray. One thing that didn't help Jordan's chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Billy Ostler.

Hillcrest now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Jordan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Everything went Hillcrest's way against Jordan in their previous matchup back in March, as Hillcrest made off with a 5-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
