Basketball Recap: Goodrich Beats Leggett for Their Third Straight Victory

Goodrich had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past the Leggett Pirates with a 51-47 victory. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Pirates back in December of 2024, they had to take a 67-12 loss.

Leggett lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tamera Henderson, who posted 16 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Henderson is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Na'Ilah Jordan was another key player, putting up 15 points and eight rebounds.

Goodrich's record now sits at 9-14. As for Leggett, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Goodrich will host Brookeland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookeland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Goodrich likes a good challenge. As for Leggett, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Burkeville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leggett is facing Burkeville at the right time seeing as Burkeville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
