Football Recap: Sussex Central Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three contests, Sussex Central finally came back down to earth on Friday. They came up short against the Salesianum Sallies, falling 31-7. The Golden Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Sallies from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Josiah Cannon threw for 83 yards and one touchdown. Hayden Mahammitt was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards. On the ground, Quentin Middleton rushed for 57 yards.

Sussex Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Salesianum, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, Sussex Central will face off against Middletown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Salesianum, they will head out on the road to challenge Smyrna at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Sallies will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
