Basketball Recap: Weston Kinney and Kaden Klooster Secure Win for Grand Traverse Academy

Grand Traverse Academy entered their tilt with Cadillac HomeSchool on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past Cadillac HomeSchool with points to spare, taking the game 53-38. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against Cadillac HomeSchool back in December of 2024, they had to take a 52-42 defeat.

Grand Traverse Academy was led to victory by Kaden Klooster and Weston Kinney. Klooster dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Kinney dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Kinney is becoming a predictor of Grand Traverse Academy's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 4-2 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Nate Dix, who posted nine points and five boards.

Grand Traverse Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

The win got Grand Traverse Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Cadillac HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Grand Traverse Academy has already played their next game, a 51-46 victory against Interlochen Arts Academy on the 7th. Cadillac HomeSchool does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
