Basketball Recap: Lucas Ollenburger Key Part of a Team Effort in Pirates Win

While Santa Ynez didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Torres Toros on Thursday as the Santa Ynez Pirates made off with a 59-34 win. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Toros are ranked 856th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Santa Ynez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucas Ollenburger led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Ollenburger a new career-high in points. Jude Pritchard was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Santa Ynez's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Torres, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Santa Ynez wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-39 defeat against Stockdale on the 13th. As for Torres, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-39 loss against Lompoc on the 13th.
