Game recap: Saugus High School Football Team wins against Golden Valley

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Saugus (Calif.) beat Golden Valley (Santa Clarita, Calif.) 56-6 while riding the arm of Chris Hamilton, who tossed five touchdown passes.

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Hamilton to Jared Delger in the first quarter, the Centurions led 21-6 at the half.

Saugus expanded its lead to 43 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored four times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Reid Rupe.

Hamilton played well for the Centurions in the victory. The junior quarterback threw five touchdowns. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.

Golden Valley's only touchdown came on a 33-yard pass from undefined to Malik Young in the first quarter.



Saugus entered the contest giving up 22.3 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Grizzlies well below their season average of 20.0 points scored per game.

The victory was a step in the right direction for the Centurions, who were coming off a 38-3 defeat at the hands of Hart in its previous game. Golden Valley lost to West Ranch last week, 31-0. The loss was the fourth in a row for GV.

In a Foothill game next week Golden Valley (2-7) takes on Valencia, and Saugus (4-5) will go up against West Ranch also in a Foothill game.
