Volleyball Game Preview: St. Xavier Tigers vs. Holy Cross Cougars

St. Xavier has gone a perfect 3-0 against Holy Cross recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. St. Xavier will be looking to extend their current 22-game winning streak.

On Monday, St. Xavier made easy work of Ballard and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Dalton Lutes went supernova, getting 12 digs and six aces. That's the most digs he has posted over his last eight contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Kaufman, who had 21 assists.

St. Xavier couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 65.5% of their attack attempts. That's the best hitting percentage they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross faced DeSales in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Cougars lost 3-0 to the Colts.

St. Xavier's win bumped their record up to 22-1. As for Holy Cross, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Everything went St. Xavier's way against Holy Cross in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as St. Xavier made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
