Baseball Game Preview: Mattawan Wildcats vs. Berrien Springs Shamrocks

The Mattawan Wildcats will take on the Berrien Springs Shamrocks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mattawan's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Berrien Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mattawan fell victim to Novi and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of Novi by a score of 2-0. The loss was Mattawan's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Berrien Springs took care of business in their home opener (barely) two weeks ago. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Cassopolis.

Micah Mcfarland was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mitch Nelson, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mattawan fell to 3-1. As for Berrien Springs, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Everything went Mattawan's way against Berrien Springs in their previous matchup back in April of 2018, as Mattawan made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Shamrocks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
