Basketball Game Preview: Rodriguez Mustangs vs. Wood Wildcats

The Rodriguez Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Wood Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rodriguez has three straight wins, Wood has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Wednesday, Rodriguez strolled past Vacaville with points to spare, taking the game 71-52. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 893rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wood played against Vanden and lost via forfeit.

Rodriguez is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.1 points per game. As for Wood, they now have a losing record at 12-13.

Rodriguez took their victory against Wood in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 79-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rodriguez since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
