Basketball Recap: Westwood Starts Season with Win Against Surprise Valley

Westwood had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Surprise Valley Hornets 60-32. For the Lumberjacks, this counts as revenge for the 57-43 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Casey Grove, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Trevor Pratt, who earned six points.

Westwood has already played their next matchup, a 52-36 defeat against Chester on the 5th. As for Surprise Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-26 loss against Happy Camp on the 5th.
