Baseball Recap: Penfield Comes Up Short

Penfield extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-4 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the McQuaid Jesuit Knights. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by just one run.

Jacob Murray made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season.

As for McQuaid Jesuit, the victory got them back to even at 5-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 18, 2021, but that streak is no more.

On McQuaid Jesuit's side, the team relied heavily on Paul Rizzo, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Penfield will venture away from home to face off against Spencerport at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McQuaid Jesuit, they will host Orchard Park at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
