Football Recap: St. Joseph Regional Starts off Right with Win over Riverdale Baptist

St. Joseph Regional took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders a 2-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Green Knights' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in New Jersey, while the Crusaders are ranked 25th in Maryland).

This is the second loss in a row for Riverdale Baptist and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Regional will face off against St. John's at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Riverdale Baptist, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Long Island Lutheran at 1:00 p.m. on the 27th.
