Football Recap: Corcoran Panthers vs. Granite Hills Grizzlies
Corcoran had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took down the Granite Hills Grizzlies 46-29 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.
It was another big night for Tony Alvarez, who threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (89 yards to be exact) went to Elijah Muthana.
Corcoran didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Brayden Espinoza.
Despite the loss, Granite Hills still got an impressive performance from Tyson Vinson, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Vinson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.
Corcoran pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.7 points per game. As for Granite Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Corcoran will play host again on Friday to welcome Lindsay, where kickoff is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Corcoran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.1 points per game this season. Granite Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
