Football Recap: Huntington Park Comes Up Short on the Road Against Village Christian

Huntington Park kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were beaten by the Village Christian Crusaders 57-22. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 808th, while the Crusaders are ranked 275th).

A big part of Village Christian's win came down to the chemistry between Hudson Gerhardt and his top target Nathan Remeny. Gerhardt rushed for 91 yards and one score while Remeny threw for 243 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes. Those four passing touchdowns gave Remeny a new career-high.

Coming up, Huntington Park will head out to face off against Banning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Village Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against North Hollywood at 7:00 p.m.
