Montgomery Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cj Sankey led the charge by throwing for 153 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. Sankey's passing game has become a key predictor of the Knights' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Zaylan Jackson-Ligon helped Sankey out on the ground, rushing for 64 yards and one score, while also catching one touchdown.

Montgomery Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Mylez Gourdine led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Caden Ishman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Headland pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.7 points over those games. As for Montgomery Catholic, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Montgomery Catholic against Headland in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
