Baseball Recap: Clark Montessori Wins Going Away Against New Miami

Clark Montessori barely beat New Miami the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Vikings on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Garvin Dixon made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Clark Montessori: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ethan Ernst was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tega Bakai, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Clark Montessori kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Clark Montessori is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for New Miami, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Clark Montessori will square off against Blanchester at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. New Miami will be paying especially close attention to Clark Montessori's match: after Clark Montessori faces off against Blanchester, they'll take on New Miami again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
