Softball Game Preview: Hamilton County Trojans vs. North Florida Christian Eagles

The Hamilton County Trojans will face off against the North Florida Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Hamilton County came up short against Suwannee and fell 7-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Kaden Wetherington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits.

Meanwhile, North Florida Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Suwannee on Thursday and fell 6-4. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Florida Christian also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Gabrielle Hughes gave up just two earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Hughes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, North Florida Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylar Young, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Gigi Licwinko, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Hamilton County's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for North Florida Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
