Basketball Game Preview: Marysville Bulldogs vs. Wamego Red Raiders

The Marysville Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Wamego Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marysville will be strutting in after a victory while Wamego will be coming in after a loss.

Marysville took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They secured a 65-60 W over Abilene. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Wamego was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 67-53 to Concordia. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Panthers are ranked 24th).

Marysville moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Wamego, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Marysville was able to grind out a solid victory over Wamego in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 53-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marysville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
