Burnsville is 8-2 against Apple Valley since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Blaze will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Eagles at 5:15 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Burnsville is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Shakopee. The Blaze had just enough and edged out the Sabers 2-1.
Emma Debilzan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.
At the plate, Burnsville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Klug, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Apple Valley). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Eagan on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since May 28, 2024.
Keura Roloff made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Duran, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Jillian Kane was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Everything went Burnsville's way against Apple Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Burnsville made off with a 10-4 win. Do the Blaze have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
