Softball Recap: South Iredell Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

South Iredell had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Cox Mill Chargers 13-1. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Caroline Constable, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Benfield, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

South Iredell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cox Mill only posted an OBP of .105.

South Iredell now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Cox Mill, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Iredell will face off against Hough at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season. As for Cox Mill, they will take on West Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.17 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
