Softball Recap: Logan Takes a Loss

Logan had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it seven. They came up short against the Estancia Bears, falling 15-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Longhorns were not able to get on the board.

As for Estancia, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Estancia's part, Jhenna Valencia made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Valencia has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Estancia got a massive performance out of Karina Villafuerte, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Villafuerte is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Lucille Summers was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Logan is taking a road trip to take on McCurdy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.95 runs per game on average), something the Longhorns will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Estancia, they will challenge Clayton at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Yellowjackets have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
