Volleyball Recap: Fairmont Comes Up Short

Fairmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Purnell Swett Rams. If the Golden Tornadoes were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Rams when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Purnell Swett scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-19.

Kimiyah Smith paced Fairmont's offense, picking up five kills. Smith got some help from Layla Hunt and her seven assists. Smith also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Peyton Bullock, racking up two apiece.

Fairmont's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Purnell Swett, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Fairmont will challenge Lumberton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Purnell Swett, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Richmond Senior at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
