Silver Stage hasn't had much luck against Oasis Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Silver Stage will square off against Oasis Academy at 4:00 p.m. Silver Stage has given up an average of 19.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Silver Stage is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season last Saturday. They lost 19-2 to Incline. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Nighthawks couldn't push the score so high this time.
Vivian Booth was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Faith Chavez, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Even though they lost, Silver Stage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .538 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Oasis Academy made easy work of Battle Mountain on Saturday and carried off a 10-3 victory. Considering the Bighorns have won six games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Kirsten Detomasi made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Phynex Hunt, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Lorena Rios was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Oasis Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 12.14 hits in those games compared to only 4.67 in the others. Silver Stage's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Silver Stage has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .648. However, it's not like Oasis Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .581. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Silver Stage might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Oasis Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Silver Stage avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
